Deadline modification & new version ... comming up |
Due to the future holiday we will have soon, we might slightly modify this month's deadlines. By this we mean extending the voting period from one week to 14 days or 20, up to sometime in September. The decision will soon be made and you will see these changes on our homepage as soon as they are taken.
Also, as you know, we have stopped sometime in the past the development of the new skin of Web International Awards. The new version of the site is currently under development, and we want to rewrite all the codes that have to do with signing up, submitting projects and some other issues related to
our ranking system. The rest of the website is already finished and would only need a database upgrade to our new version.
It may be possible that we will show some screenshots, or real links with the new environment.
Best Regards,
Web Dev Team.

Happy Birthday to us! |
The first year
Well, it has been one full year since Bogdan Pop has launched Web International Awards. This is why we here at Web International Awards feel that it is time to let you all know a few figures of what's behind the stage.
First off all, we have 87 registered members. Excluding forum users, and some of the bots we keep on fighting against over there. We have 87 registered members in the main website, from which 27 have registered for a Web Developer ID, in order to submit their projects.
The month that brought us the most new users was July, 2006. We had several advertising campaigns which paid a lot. We will probably use them again when Webia 2 is launched. But we will discuss this a bit later.
We have evaluated a total of 27 projects. 6 of them were submitted last year, during June's contest. We estimate that the total number of projects evaluated, through our main website and our partners websites, is around 300.
We congratulate all our contestants, especially Kevin Sweeney, which submitted almost one year ago a website that is still on top of the Hall Of Fame. We also send our appreciation to Alex Cristian, owner of Axeldot, leading web developer in our rankings.
The traffic generated by Web International Awards has increased with 465% since we have launched, and we expect a much bigger increase for the upcoming year.
We started out with about 5 visitors a day, and after one year we have about 300 unique visitors each day.
We have awarded prizes of approximately 100$ in advertising, which we will still do in the future for our contest winners.
Since we launched we added a few categories, with interesting articles, reviews and interviews, so we want to thank all of those web developers out there who were kind enough to share their thoughts with us.
So, what's next?
We have planned a new version for Web International Awards since last December. However, we stopped working on that version because it was just a new template, and we think it is better to change the website only once, and do it right.
That is why we will launch the new template only when the new system will be finished. The user interface will be very much improved, you will have web 2.0 goodies to integrate inside your website (you can check my tools to see the shape of the things to come).
Our sections will be separated much better and we will have the ability to give users different rights for the admin panel, things we cannot do now.
When we launch the new section, the "Project Of The Month" contest will be only a small part of ranking system. We will also add a website gallery, where visitors will be able to submit their websites.
You will be able to host your own contests, with some rules here, regarding your points.
After we launch the new section, we promise to add articles on a daily basis, we hope we will be able to publish at least 5 interviews per month, with your help of course, and we hope we will be able to create a bigger buzz to attract more web developers than we have ever dreamed of gathering here.
So, 1 year, just when we reached a 200.000 visits milestone. Hopefully, next year will bring at least 2.000.000 of these, so that we could finally award gadgets like Iphones, Macs, Digital Cameras or what ever you would like, on a free registration and project submitting basis.
Thank you all for your great support! We wouldn't be here without you!
